Maui Age Group Swim Association is proud of and honored by the all the volunteers and
their collaboration & cooperation in making the 2009 Hawaii State Swimming
Championships at Kihei Aquatic Center a huge success. An event of this magnitude
can’t fairly be managed by one or even two teams without over-burdening the coaching
& parental support staff. MAGSA sets the standard in team cooperation to make the
swimming experience on Maui the best it can be for all our swimmers.
The 2009 State meet has exceeded even MAGSA’s high standard. So … A BIG
MAHALO to all our volunteers … whose names you’ll find listed below.
Lahaina Swim Club … coordinating hospitality (one of the biggest tasks) and reaching
out to the community (with support from South Maui Sharks and Maui Dolphins).
Maui Swim Club … coordinating awards & ceremonies.
Hawaii Swim Club & Maui Gold partnered up to manage concessions and facilities
including getting health dept and tenting permits … and providing/setting up many of the
tents.
South Maui Sharks … provided copying, printer and supporting the hospitality.
Maui Dolphins … helped coordinating many of these duties with Maui County, testing
and setting up the electronic equipment, and coordinating with Hawaiian Swimming and
officials … as well as supporting the hospitality.
The County of Maui Aquatics Division; Pools Section … helping set up the pools,
getting the lous & trash bins and ice to cool the pool and fixing up the facility thanks to
the Kihei Aquatic Center Lifeguards (esp. Rich Landry, Sirena Lacour, Mike Tamalis,
Kalei Quitevis, Keoki Pfeitzer, Jasen Garguilo & James Nelson); and in the Aquatics
office Fran Yamamoto and Duke Sevilla.
And members of the Maui Community … our enthusiastic announcers Dain Kane &
Lloyd Yonemura (thanks for the great music) … and Adrian Tom who fixed &
maintained the sound system and overhauled/cleaned all the timing equipment … (a
visitor) Dean Schmaltz setting up our internet connection for the meet & getting all the
senior postings together and printed.
Although not part of MAGSA, these meets don’t run without the support of officials.
