Coach Brian Lee was a swim coach on Oahu who coached for Aiea Aquatics, the University of Hawaii, Aulea Swim Club, and Rainbow Aquatics and founded the Iolani Swim Club. At Iolani High School, he coached the team to six boys and four girls state titles. The swimmers he trained broke many state records and competed in junior national, senior national, and Olympic trial events. He coached the USA National Team for several years. He coached the first female Sri Lankan Olympic swimmer in 1988 and the same swimmer to seven Gold Medals at the 1991 South Asian Federation Games.
Brian was inducted into the Hawaiian Swimming Hall of Fame in 2015.
Coach Lee passed away on July 4 after battling cancer for several years. His wife and two boys survive Brian.
